A SOCIAL ENRICHMENT & OBEDIENCE SCHOOL FOR DOGS!

A Day at Camp B.A.R.K.

At Camp B.A.R.K. your dog will attend a 4-hour class under the Basic or Premium service with up to 5 other buddies, focusing on:

  • Specified basic obedience training.
  • Social skills training and structured play via communal games and activities.
  • Crate training support, relaxation protocols, and body handling exercises to support the acclimation to vet and grooming touch.

This program allows your dog the ability to practice proper social interactions in a safe and structured environment. Trainers will assist your dog in proper dog-to-dog interaction and support the facilitation of relationships, to ensure boundaries are being respected and supported by all dogs.

With a maximum of 6 dogs per group, led by a Noble Beast Dog Trainer, your dog will be part of a strategically designed class that meets consistently each week, allowing classmate relationships to develop safely over time while teaching your dog a variety of beneficial skills along the way!

Throughout the day, your trainers will reinforce good behaviors and choices with various rewards, including love, affection, praise, toys, play, and of course our yummy salmon, sweet potato, and pumpkin limited-ingredient dog food treats. Small-breed-specific classes use Canidae PURE Petite Limited Ingredient Premium Small Breed Adult Dry Dog Food, Lamb Recipe, grain free and hypo allergenic and easy on the stomach. The first 9 ingredients are Salmon, salmon meal, peas, lentils, tapioca, canola oil, garbanzo beans, freeze-dried salmon, natural flavor. If you have any questions about which food will be used in your dog’s class, please reach out to us so that we can better assist you!

Please note that if your pup is on a special diet, you will need to provide your own special treats each day!

All dogs are required to complete and pass an evaluation prior to enrollment in Camp B.A.R.K.

Trainer approval must be gained for your dog to attend Full Days at Camp BARK. This is to ensure that your dog is having the best experience and isn’t feeling overwhelmed, tired, or anxious. Eight hours of training can be a lot, and we want your dog to feel fulfilled, as opposed to stressed when they come to Camp BARK!  For this reason, we require trainer approval for every dog who attends full days of Camp BARK.

  • Camp B.A.R.K.’s Basic Training

Dogs work on specified basic training cues, designed to boost a high level of responsiveness as we work and test your dog’s listening skills in a highly active dog-centric environment.

Training cues used in class – SIT, DOWN, STAY, GET BACK, TOUCH, COME, LEAVE IT, and WATCH ME.

There is highly monitored playtime to promote proper play and socializing with other dogs, ensuring everyone is respectful of play preferences and boundaries.

Your dog’s class will be led by a Noble Beast Certified Dog Guardian Trainer whose sole focus is to make sure each dog in class gets equal time working on obedience training, beginner agility training, body awareness and handling, confidence-building exercises, and doggie training games – using scientifically proven and humane training methodologies to support the Art of Relationship Inspired Dog Training!

Your dog will participate in weekly activities such as Holiday Festivities, Arts and Crafts, or an extra special training concept!

At the end of your dog’s day with us, you will receive a Noble Beast Dog Training Report Card, informing you of your dog’s successes, as well as including a few cute photos of their day!

  • Camp B.A.R.K.’s Premium Training

The PREMIUM services includes everything listed in the BASIC program, AND… a one-on-one Loose Leash Walking lesson focusing on proper leash manners outside the facility while other dogs and/or humans are present, ensuring a ‘real-life walk’ experience, with the goal of helping your dog transfer their training skills to the real world!

One-on-one work on the following basic obedience cues while out in the real world – SIT, DOWN, STAY, GET BACK, TOUCH, COME, LEAVE IT, and WATCH ME.

  • Is Camp B.A.R.K. a Good Fit for My Dog?

At Noble Beast, if even one dog feels overly or unusually anxious and/or fearful in our program – often leading to reactivity, it makes our hearts ache.  As a Dog Training & Behavior Consultant Team, specializing in dog/dog social skills and group play dynamics, we are committed to doing what is best for all the dogs in our program at all times – and maintaining a safe environment.  Part of this process includes routinely checking in with all the pups in our program to ensure they are continuing to have the best experience possible.

With that said, below are a list of essential behaviors skills that our trainers are consistently evaluating.

Being comfortable being crated and free of moderate to extreme separation anxiety.

    • There will be short stints of time when your pup is crated and alone during Camp B.A.R.K. (or if your dog boards before and/or after class).  Dogs who are content with some alone time and at ease being crated are going to have a more positive experiences with us, as well as will be able to receive the full benefits of the program.
    • Dogs who are content with some alone time and at ease being crated will have a more positive experience with us and will be able to receive the full benefits of the program.

Being able to coexist with a variety of different types of dogs and dog personalities.

    • Camp B.A.R.K. has a dynamic roster, so your pup will be exposed to many different doggie personalities, sizes, playstyles, and energy levels.  Dogs who are adaptable at meeting and being around a variety of dogs and doggie personalities will thrive socially, both in and out of class!
    • Dogs who are able to relax into the routine of Camp B.A.R.K. will get much more out of the program, will be better at learning, and will be more able to enjoy other dogs.

    Being comfortable socializing with people.

    • At Camp B.A.R.K., dogs get the amazing experience of working with different members of our training team.  Dogs who are comfortable being handled by a variety of people are going to be much more receptive to the training provided, as well as more accepting of people in general.
    • Although most dogs are not hugely adept at these skills when they first join our program, they are essential skills for dogs to learn and demonstrate after a few weeks.  Dogs who learn to look to their trainer for direction and are able to break from play or start another activity with their trainer’s direction are going to find a lot of success, both in our program and in social situations out and about!

Being free of moderate to extreme general anxiety.

    • A dog having some anxiety within the first few weeks of Camp B.A.R.K. is understandable.  Dogs who are able to relax into the routine of Camp B.A.R.K., will get much more out of the program, will be better at learning, and will be more able to enjoy other dogs.
    • Resource guarding is actually very common, but when a dog becomes aggressive with their resource-guarding tendencies, it can be downright dangerous for all involved!  Resource guarding may not immediately present itself, but it’s a behavior that our trainers watch for closely.  Dogs who are able of sharing resources are not only more likely to make doggie friends but are also able to fully engage in all our activities here at Camp B.A.R.K.

Being able to listen, focus, and be easily redirected.

    • Although most dogs are not hugely adept at these skills when they first join our program, they are essential skill for dogs to learn and demonstrate after a few weeks.  Dogs who learn to look to their trainer for direction and are able to break from play or start another activity with their trainer’s direction, are going to find a lot of success both in our program and in social situations out and about!

    Free of aggressive resource-guarding tendencies.

    • Resource guarding is actually very common, but when a dog become aggressive with their resource guarding tendencies, it can be downright dangerous for all involved!  Resource guarding may not immediately present itself, but it’s a behavior that our trainers watch for closely.  Dogs who are cable of sharing resources are not only more likely to make doggie friends, but are also able to fully engage in all our activities, here at Camp B.A.R.K.

The essential behaviors outlined above can be placed on a spectrum.  The higher a dog is on a spectrum, the better they are at the essential behavior.  Most dogs come into our program low on the spectrum of multiple essential behaviors, which is quite normal due to the exciting, and sometimes even challenging, environment of Camp B.A.R.K.

In general, if a dog is a bit low on the spectrum for a couple of the essential behaviors, but scores higher on the spectrum for the majority of the rest we can and will work with your pup on improving these behaviors.  However, if your pup continues to struggle with essential behaviors and/or declines in additional essential behaviors, it may be recommended that they take a break from Camp B.A.R.K. to work on the behavior(s) outside of Camp B.A.R.K., in one of our other services, especially if the mental wellbeing and/or safety of your pup, other pups, or their trainer is a concern.

Dogs are our life, and we love what we do – we live and breathe dog training and behavior.  It is so important that we set our dogs up for success and we believe in making Camp B.A.R.K. a positive experience for all dogs in our care!

If you have any questions or would like additional elaboration on any of the points above, please contact your Camp B.A.R.K. trainer directly via their direct email.

  • Private Social Session Information

Do you have a dog that struggles with fear, anxiety, or arousal when in the presence of other dogs and is unable to be in dog/dog social situations successfully?  Consider Private Social Sessions!

Private Social Sessions are great for any dog that struggles socially and is unable to attend Camp B.A.R.K., dog daycare, or may even have challenges when going for a walk due to their reactivity with other dogs.  This often happens because the environment is too overstimulating and overwhelming for them, causing a level of fear, anxiety, and/or arousal that throws them into reactivity.

Private Social Sessions puts your dog in the hands of an experienced and knowledgeable Dog Trainer & Behavior Consultant who will work directly with them, leveraging a safe, controlled training environment while exposing them to well-balanced dogs and working on (1) reducing anxiety & arousal and (2) improving social communication and behavior, with an end goal of helping them learn to relax more in the presence of other dogs.

These focused 1-hour training sessions are held at The Noble Beast Dog Training & Education Center (4335 Vine Street, Denver, CO 80216) and can be scheduled Mon – Thus between the hours of 9am – 3pm.

Many of our busy clients, who struggle to find the time and the right environment to properly train their dogs in, love this service as they are able to “hand over the leash” to a professional trainer to help expedite behavior change through the use of fear-free, scientific methods.

**If there is any indication that Social Sessions may not be a good fit for your dog, we may call you to discuss your dog and your training goals further, and may suggest alternative services that will better address your dog’s behaviors and your training goals.**

  • Transfer of Skills Session Information

Has your pup been at Camp B.A.R.K. or done some Private Social Sessions, and you just need a session or two to gain a solid understanding of how to support what they have learned?

Transfer of Skills Sessions are great for those of you who have enrolled your pups into Private Social Sessions and need a bit more direction from the trainers than what they provide you after the session.

Transfer of Skills Sessions are also great for Camp B.A.R.K. Pet Parents who have committed to the long-term training of their dog and want to learn how to directly apply the training techniques our trainers teach in our Camp B.A.R.K. program to ensure a well-rounded training experience for your pups, setting them up for all aspects of their home and social life!

These focused 1-hour training sessions with a Noble Beast Dog Trainer & Behavior Consultant are done privately at your home or an agreed-upon location and provide direct instruction customized to what you and your dog need to nail down, with the end goal of ensuring YOU are able to maintain the success your dog is having at Camp or in their Social Sessions.

  • Detailed Camp B.A.R.K. Description

Camp B.A.R.K. is Noble Beast Dog Training’s version of what a Dog Daycare should look like.

At Camp B.A.R.K. (Behavior And Relationship Kinetics for dogs) your dog will get to participate in our progressive social training program, unique to Noble Beast, where a Noble Beast Trainer works with up to 6 dogs in a dog-centric communal group, helping them with dog-on-dog communication and social skills, supporting and respecting boundaries of other beings, building confidence through experiential activities and body handling, and improving active listening all while working on manners and obedience in an active dog environment.

But the best part is – your dog won’t know they are being trained as they’ll be having so much fun!!!

As a dog training team that has specialized in dog-on-dog socialization and group play dynamics for over a decade, we understand the social needs of dogs, and thus have created an energetic and dynamic dog-centric communal program that works your dog’s mind, body, and soul!

Believe it or not, Noble Beast Dog Training had a daycare, and ran it successfully for roughly 3 years!

Opening up a dog daycare was a very hard decision for us as dog trainers, given dog daycares, in the traditional sense, are not ideal for the majority of dogs who attend.  It’s as if a dog has to be the perfect candidate for the service – AT ALL LIFE STAGES and DURING ALL LIFE EVENTS, and we have yet to find that perfect dog.  We even modified our dog daycare program to ensure smaller groups, nap time, enrichment, and a more attentive focus on separating dogs by size, energy, and personality – but the problem is that dogs go through life changes that affect their behaviors just like people, so it was nearly impossible to create a daycare model that worked for all dogs.

The problem with dog daycare is that arousal is hard to control with a larger number of dogs in groups, each with their own individual personalities, and when dogs get over-aroused, it can lead to situations in which dogs can become:

    • Snappy with other dogs
    • Pushy or forceful with other dogs
    • Fearful of other dogs
    • Anxious when around other dogs

For Noble Beast, even if one dog feels anxious or fearful in our program, it makes our hearts ache.

As a Dog Training & Behavior Consultant Team, we are committed to doing what is best for all dogs at all times, and so we closed our daycare as we found that more and more dogs were not able to enjoy the less structured larger group play where dogs had more free choice.

At the same time, we had our very unique and popular Group Day Training Program running, which was hugely successful in supporting the basic and social skills training of dogs, but felt that something was missing and needed to make some changes.  That is when Camp B.A.R.K. (Behavior and Relationship Kinetics for Canines) was brought to life.

At Camp B.A.R.K., we provide a dog-centric communal environment, giving dogs a safe and positive learning experience (one of the most critical components of a skills-based training program for dogs) while supporting them in social skills, where they are able to build confidence, explore new dog relationships, help let go of negative associations, and experience new directions, leading to much more fulfilling lives as we provide them with experiences to help them cope better socially, especially with other dogs.

In short, this fun and critical life-skills experiential training helps dogs be successful out and about in our big human world!

There is nothing more rewarding for a trainer than the smile of a dog while they are actively engaging in the training, not realizing that they are being trained as the training is so fun!
